According to Raymond Franz in Crisis of Conscience, Nathan Knorr even volunteered that the JWs do not look after their rank and file members.

How many faithful old JW`s are now living in Christendoms retirement homes not being cared for by the religion they gave their life for.
by smiddy3 init must be pointed out in favour of christendoms religions that they do not discriminate against people regarding their religious beliefs.
many old age jehovah`s witnesses are residents of christendoms age care homes.. isn`t this a conunudrum ?
they, jw`s condemn christendom as part of the world empire of false religion and they cast off their old faithful members to their enemy christendom , to look after them without lifting a finger themselves.. in the meantime they are raking in millions of dollars $$$$ in selling off real estate properties in new york and elsewhere around the world.

Is New Zealand right to ban military style guns?
by ThomasCovenant inin response to the recent terrorist attack in new zealand their government is proposing to ban semi automatic and military style weaponry.. do you agree with this idea?.
would they be better off allowing more of these weapons instead?.
would it be better to perhaps allow more of the muslim community for example, to be armed with semi automatic guns to protect themselves at their places of worship?.

joe134cd,
In countries such as New Zealand, the ballot box has always been an effective way of getting rid of an unpopular government.

A bit of a straw man being slipped in here!
I never claimed that any one country defeated Nazi Germany, and that is why I used the term "Allied armies" - the "allies" including dozens of different countries, including the Soviet Union.

Without in any way demeaning the extreme bravery shown by individual members of resistance organisations, those occupied Western European countries were freed by the Allied armies - not by an armed insurrection on the part of the population.

There is much more involved in resisting tyranny than just everybody possessing an AR-15 or equivalent.
Those with military experience would be quick to point out that "an army without organisation and discipline is nothing more than an armed mob."
Much of the early successes in the American Revolutionary War came about because the American militias were often better trained and better disciplined than the British troops who were sent against them. Many of the British soldiers were little more than raw recruits, with little training and no experience of warfare. (That was particularly evident at Concorde and Lexington).
The only situations in which a disorganised mob could overthrow a government are when the military either mutinies, or (as happened in the Iranian Revolution in 1978-1979) stays confined to barracks. Furthermore, as other posters have pointed out, whether that disorganised mob was armed or not would be of little consequence.
To suggest that Hitler's successful mobile "Blitzkrieg" attacks of 1940 - involving careful coordination of tanks, aircraft, artillery and motorised infantry - could have been turned back by mobs French and Belgian citizens with small arms is surely stretching credibility?
On the other hand, if one was looking for a medal for getting themselves shot, then I guess that would have been a good way to go about it!
The only way an armed citizenry could successfully resist either tyranny or invasion is if they were part of a trained and properly organised militia (as in the case of Switzerland).

Climate Change - True Believer or Skeptic?
by Simon inclimate change ... who doesn't believe it?
crazy fools and science deniers ... right?.
it seems like it's become the new religion, the new orthodoxy, that must be accepted and believed as gospel and preached to all.. is it ok to be skeptical?.

Iceland, Sweden, and Costa Rica have all succeeded in achieving 100% renewable energy.
Actually, Sweden generates 40% of its electricity from nuclear power plants, and has to import 3% of its electricity requirements. It does, though, produce 53% of its power from hydro electric generation.
The other two countries you mention derive the majority of their power (over 70%) from hydro electric generation. Additionally, both being located in volcanic areas, geothermal power stations also a contribute a significant amount (30% in the case of Iceland).
However, not all countries have many suitable hydroelectric sites. Even Australia's remarkable Snowy Mountains hydro electric scheme contributes barely 2% of the country's power requirements. Even fewer areas of the world have any geothermal potential.
Also, with hydroelectric generation, you are liable to encounter environmental issues of a different type. I come from a country that previously generated over 80% of its power requirements from hydroelectricity. That figure is now 54%, and falling - principally because of mass opposition from environmentalists, recreational fishermen, white water rafters and other pressure groups. In many quarters, hydro power has almost become a swear word!
When it comes to both hydroelectric and geothermal generation, the old saying "All that glitters is not gold" comes to mind.

Awake No. 2 2019 - Way To Destroy Your Childrens Hopes And Dreams Watchtower!
by pale.emperor innot that i spend much time on the cult's website, but i like to skim through their latest propaganda to make sure i'm up to date with their nuttiness.
(and when i say skim, i mean just that.
the wafer thin, dumbed down content can be read in like 2 mins flat).. i just had to share my thoughts on the above piece of trash.. no.

The most effective form of propaganda is the half-truth, as this article shows.
There is nothing, in itself, wrong with being humble (some of the arrogant *>^#$ I have to deal with could certainly profit from being so!). Predictably, though, this lot have twisted matters around to make humility one and the same with being a doormat for the GB.

Do you think local Govts. tolerate religions / cults such as JW`s simply because of the money they can generate with conventions etc.?
by smiddy3 ini`m thinking about major conventions held by jw`s either nationally or internationally .they must be a big boost to the local economy when they are held .. think about the major international conventions held by jw`s over the years .
yankee stadium / polo grounds being one of the major ones ,though its not just confined to the jw`s ,billy graham crusades , and of course the pope`s visits to various countries.. and are they culpable or should they be for promoting these events to occur under there watch ?.
i mean as an extreme illustration or two here would such govts.

According to some posters from Sweden, the state owned liquor outlets do very well from JW conventions. Sad to say, this is all too believable.

Well, mate, if you say so then it must be - you being something of an expert yourself on the matter of "broad brush strokes", as you put it!
I'll bet you can wash windows better than I can.
Extremely unlikely, given that I have never washed a window in my life, except for the windscreen on my own car.
Next time engage your brain first, before putting mouth into gear!

It must be easy to respond with "Bullshit!" each time someone says anything
And it is even easier when they are spouting bull$h#t, too!
